TUBYCON CEO Park Jehyun Receives Prime Minister’s Commendation at Korea Invention Day — Honored for inventing the world’s first all-in-one urine cup
CEO Park Jehyun of TUBYCON, a Korean in-vitro diagnostic device company, received the Prime Minister’s Commendation at the Korea Invention Day ceremony held on May 19 at COEX Magok in Seoul. The award recognizes his invention of the world’s first all-in-one urine cup and its contribution to public health safety and the competitiveness of Korea’s medical device industry.
Park spent 16 years as a medical laboratory scientist in hospital labs, where he first encountered the persistent problems of specimen mix-ups, infection exposure, and inefficient manual workflows. To address them, he founded TUBYCON in Gwangju in 2022.
TUBYCON’s flagship product, TUBYCON-U, is built on an All-in-One structure in which the urine cup and testing tube are combined into a single unit. After collection, only the tube is detached and sent to the lab — reducing both clinicians’ exposure to specimens and the risk of specimen mix-ups, while remaining compatible with hospitals operating Air Shooter pneumatic systems.
The product earned the Minister’s Award at the 2024 Korea Good Design Awards, the KIPO Preferred Purchase Recommendation for Excellent Inventions, and the NEP New Excellent Product certification in 2025. US FDA registration is complete, EU CE IVDR (Class A) is in its final stage, and the Australian TGA process is underway.
TUBYCON currently holds 90+ patents, design rights, and trademarks across 56 countries, and obtained Intellectual Property Management Certification in 2026 — placing its IP system at an international standard. The company has also signed a USD 4 million supply agreement with an overseas partner, marking the start of full-scale entry into global markets.
“This commendation reflects the dedication of every team member who believed that field-driven engineering belongs at the center of public health,” Park said. “Small innovations on the lab floor can save lives — and we will keep building a healthcare environment that clinicians and patients can trust.”
